Japanese Hut and pond renovation.

This is what many read about the 'Japanese hut' in the local Guernsey Press

"The Japanese Hut, looking over the pond at Saumarez Park, has been closed for public safety, while. The States department with responsibility for it works out how much it might cost to fix. The structure is said to be in "poor condition" with repairs needed to the platform and the roof. The Japanese Hut is recognised as being greatly valued by the community, but it is in need of some repairs" a spokesperson for the States of Guernsey said. "Whilst there is no concern that it [the hut] will collapse, people are advised not to enter it."

The experienced team behind the Playground have put together a fantastic collection of passionate volunteers from Kleinwort Hambros to clear all the dead and overgrown foliage around the pond so the hut can be clearly seen. We are also putting together a team to manage the restoration of the hut to be ready for mid July - more details to follow.
